Bhubaneswar: Odisha experienced a sharp rise in temperatures on Monday, with Boudh recording the highest at 38.3 °C, according to the evening weather bulletin released by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD). The twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack recorded 34.8 °C and 33.4 °C, respectively, as residents struggled with the sweltering heat. Other towns in the state also reported high temperatures. Bolangir recorded 37.2 °C, Hirakud 36.8 °C, Bhawanipatna 36.5 °C, Sambalpur and Sonepur 36.2 °C each, while Paralakhemundi recorded 36.0 °C. Angul registered 35.7 °C, Phulabani and Baripada 35.4 °C each, and Titlagarh recorded 35.0 °C. In coastal and other districts, Balasore, Chandbali, and Koraput reported 34.0 °C, Bhadrak and Bhubaneswar 34.8 °C, Nuapada and Malkangiri 34.0 °C each, and Rourkela 34.2 °C. Jajpur, Cuttack, Chandrapur, and Kendrapada ranged between 33.4 °C and 33.5 °C, while Khordha, Kendujhar, and Puri recorded temperatures between 33.5 °C and 33.6 °C. Dhenkanal registered 33.5 °C, Paradip and Gopalpur 32.8 °C, Jharsuguda 32.6 °C, Sundargarh and Nabarangpur 32.5 °C, Deogarh 32.4 °C, and Nayagarh, Jagatsinghpur, and Daringibadi 32.0 °C. Bhubaneswar, Oct 1 (PTI) The Odisha government has put on alert all districts after heavy rain lashed most parts of the state, as a low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal intensified into a depression, officials said on Wednesday. In its latest bulletin at 3 pm, the IMD said: "The well-marked low-pressure area over westcentral Bay of Bengal moved north-northwestwards, concentrating into a depression."
