New Delhi, April 6 (PTI) Students from Delhi University's Ramjas College and Miranda House were evacuated on Monday morning, after the colleges received bomb threat emails, an official said. According to Principal of Ramjas College Ajay Kumar Arora, the email had been sent to the college email ID around 9 am. "The email was then forwarded to me around 11 am, which is when we discovered the email. Within the next 10 minutes, students, as well as faculty and non-faculty members, were evacuated, and police were called," Arora told PTI. The subject of the email that Ramjas College received, as seen by PTI, mentioned that at least "13 bombs" had been planted in the college. Arora added that students were asked to go home, instead of waiting at the gate, to avoid unnecessary crowding. Classes will resume on Tuesday according to the schedule, he added. Following the bomb threats, multiple agencies rushed to both colleges on Monday morning. However, they found no suspicious objects in either of the premises. Further investigation is underway, police said. "Although there was no mention of a bomb in the email messages themselves, their subject lines mentioned bomb threats," officials said. Miranda House, meanwhile, released a statement, noting that a perceived threat was received via email, in response to which an evacuation drill was immediately conducted in strict adherence to the protocols laid down by the College Disaster Management Cell. "As part of the procedure, the entire college community, including hostel residents, was safely evacuated in a timely manner through designated exit points," the statement said. Students with disabilities (PwBD) were provided special assistance to ensure their safe evacuation, it added. College officials said following a thorough inspection of the campus by the police and the bomb disposal squad, the premises have been declared safe and normal classes will resume on Tuesday.
