RAIPUR: In a significant move towards energy self-reliance, Jindal Steel has successfully integrated advanced coal gasification technology to power its steel-making operations using domestic (swadeshi) coal. The initiative marks a shift toward low-carbon production and strengthens India's energy security by reducing the industry's historical dependence on imported fuels. "The company has achieved a world-first by establishing India's premier coal gasification-based Direct Reduced Iron (DRI) plant.
