Hyderabad: A 22-year-old woman was killed and her husband was severely injured after a speeding goods carrier truck rammed into their scooty and dragged it for nearly 2 kilometres, reports said. The victim is identified as Haniya Ayesha, and her husband Abdul Basit, 26, who is a private employee, sustained serious injuries and is currently undergoing treatment. The accident occurred near Mindspace underpass in Madhapur area at around 11.30 pm on Saturday night, police officials said. Newlywed couple returning home from movie: The driver of the DCM vehicle, was reportedly driving at a high speed in a negligent manner and hit the newlywed couple. It happened when the couple, originally from Kerala, were returning home after watching a movie at Kukatpally Lakeshore Mall. The couple were thrown off the bike onto the road and their scooty became stuck under DCM vehicle. The driver continued to drag the vehicle for nearly 2 km towards Jubilee Hills. Locals intercepted the vehicle near JH checkpoint. The driver, Arif, fled the scene and the cleaner was later taken into police custody. The couple were taken to a private hospital, where Haniya was declared dead on arrival. Police are searching for the absconding driver and a case has been registered.
