New Delhi: Delhi govt has imposed a ban on the sale of LPG cylinders directly from godowns, warning of tough action against violators, as part of efforts to streamline distribution and curb irregularities, govt said on Sunday.Officials said oil marketing companies have issued clear instructions to distributors, making it illegal to sell cylinders from storage points. The move aims to plug leakages and ensure that supplies reach consumers through authorised delivery channels, it added. At the same time, the govt has expanded access to 5-kg LPG cylinders across the city, providing relief to migrant workers and those without permanent addresses. These cylinders can now be purchased from gas agencies with a valid ID, without the need for address verification. To facilitate this, 11 helpdesks have been set up at select HPCL outlets to guide consumers to nearby distributors.Chief minister Rekha Gupta said LPG supply in the capital remains "fully stable and under control", adding that the system is being closely monitored to prevent disruptions.
