Koraput: A moderate earthquake measuring 4.4 magnitude struck the Koraput district late Saturday night, triggering panic in several towns and villages, with tremors also felt in neighbouring Andhra Pradesh, officials said Sunday. According to the National Centre for Seismology, the earthquake occurred at 11:31 pm IST April 4. The epicentre was located near Koraput at a shallow depth of about 5 km, intensifying its impact despite the moderate magnitude.
