BHOPAL: Two persons died and three others were critically injured after a four-storey tourist lodge collapsed in Kotma town of Anuppur district in eastern Madhya Pradesh on Saturday evening. The deceased persons has been identified as Hanuman Deen Yadav (55), Ram Kripal Yadav (40). The three injured persons are being treated at community health centre (CHC) in Anuppur, while two others had been rushed to the Government Medical College Hospital in the adjoining Shahdol district. According to Anuppur district Superintendent of Police Motiur Rahman, the four-storey Agrawal Lodge, located near Kotma bus stand, collapsed due to ongoing construction work at an adjoining plot. The lodge is around 10 years old. The local municipality's chairman Badri Prasad Tamrakar said, "Primary information with us indicates that the construction work in the adjoining plot weakened the foundation of the lodge, triggering the collapse." The lodge owner claimed that no rooms were occupied by guests at the time of the fatal mishap. The deceased and injured persons are believed to be labourers working at an adjoining construction site.
