New Delhi: A 26-year-old bike taxi rider and his 24-year-old passengers were killed in Gurugram's Sector 57 on early Saturday morning. Both of them died after an SUV coming from the wrong side hit them on Dharm Marg at around 2:30 am on Saturday, said police. The police have identified the deceased as Ritik Kumar, the bike rider and his passenger, Kartik Suresh, who was riding pillion on the 2-wheeler. Kumar hailed from Bihar's Motihari, while Suresh was residing in Sector 60, Gurugram. Suresh was a college student. Man was returning home after birthday party: Police According to a report in the Hindustan Times, Suresh was returning home after attending a birthday party, when the car hit the 2-wheeler he was riding. The accident happened near the entrance of The Legend Society between 2am and 2.30am. Her had booked a bike taxi and was around 4 kilometres away from his residence when the SUV hit him, said the Gurugram Police. The car which hit the bike-borne duo has been identified as a black-coloured Tata Harrier, said officials. The car bore an Uttar Pradesh number plate, they said. The driver reportedly entered Dharm Marg from Golf Course Extension Road, from the wrong direction, said police and hit the 2-wheeler. They fell with a thud on the road and were badly injured. The scooter was also broken into 2 parts, said officials. The parts of the scooter were found scattered as far as 100 metres away from the accident spot. A police officer said that the driver of the SUV and another passenger fled the spot on foot, leaving their damaged car behind. They also did not make any attempts to help the 2 injured persons. Some of the commuters spotted the duo lying on the road and informed the police. A team from Sector 56 police station reached the spot and took the victims to 2 different hospitals, in private ambulances. While Kumar was taken to a hospital in Sector 51, Suresh was moved to Civil Hospital in Sector 10 A. Kumar used to work at a private firm during the day and drove the bike taxi at night to make extra bucks, said the police. The complaint in the case was filed by Suresh's father, Mathur Shankara Narayan Suresh. He said that he identified his son through photographs shown at the spot. Sandeep Turan, the public relations officer of Gurugram Police said that both the vehicles were seized. He added that the Harrier driver will be arrested soon and investigations are on in the case.
