Jaipur, Apr 4 (UNI) The Rajasthan High Court today upheld the earlier verdict, delivered by its single-bench last year in August, for the cancellation of the Rajasthan SI Recruitment Exam-2021. Delivering the judgement in the appeals filed by the successful - selected candidates and the state government against the verdict of single- bench Judge Samir Jain, the Division Bench headed by Acting Chief Justice Sanjeev Prakash Sharma held "the exam stands cancelled". While upholding Justice Jain's ruling, the division bench however has set-aside the court's suo motu cognizance taken against the Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC). The SI recruitment exam 2021 was held through the RPSC for filling up 859 posts of sub-inspectors (SIs) in the Rajasthan Police. However, the exam was tainted with widespread allegations of paper leaks, proxy candidates, copying and other unfair means. Multi-layer probe and investigations by the police and special operations group (SoG) were held over a long stretch of time. The SoG had arrested more than 150 accused, including many selected trainee SIs. Some accused are still absconding and the probe is also on. After a prolonged trial and the arguments, the single-bench judge Justice Jain pronounced the judgement on August 28, 2025, ruling for cancellation of the entire process of the exam 2021. The successful candidates and the state government had filed appeal challenging the single-bench order and the division bench stayed the verdict and ordered maintaining status quo. In the bid of getting early relief, the appellants also moved the Supreme Court and the apex court on September 24, 2025, directed the high court to complete hearing of appeals in 3 months. Accordingly, the high court's division bench completed hearing the arguments on January 19, 2026, and kept the verdict reserved. Many among the 859 selected trainee SIs who joined the training, were already in state service on different posts and the departments. They had resigned from the earlier held posts to join as SIs. Such trainees will have chance to join back their previous posts.
