Bengaluru, May 27 (UNI) Bengaluru has cemented its place among the world's top 12 technology powerhouses, with its tech workforce surpassing one million, according to CBRE's newly released 'Global Tech Talent Guidebook 2025'. The report, which analyses 115 global markets based on the size, quality and cost of tech talent, places Bengaluru alongside global hubs like San Francisco Bay Area, New York Metro, London, Tokyo and Singapore. The city is the largest tech talent market in the Asia-Pacific region along with Beijing and Shanghai, and also leads India in artificial intelligence (AI) development talent. CBRE highlighted Bengaluru's AI talent depth as being comparable to established US clusters, such as New York and San Francisco. Demographically, the city ranks fourth among the 12 global powerhouse markets in terms of working-age population, with 75.5 per cent of its residents in the employable age bracket. It also recorded a 2.4 per cent rise in working-age population from 2019 to 2024 -- one of the highest globally. The report credits Bengaluru's rise to a thriving startup ecosystem, bolstered by 28 unicorns, strong institutional support, and a robust talent pipeline from premier educational institutions and Global Capability Centres (GCCs). This enabled a 12 per cent growth in tech employment between 2018 and 2023. In 2024 alone, the city attracted 140 venture capital deals worth USD 3.3 billion, of which 34 were in AI, reinforcing its status as a key global destination for AI innovation and investment. CBRE's study also points to India's growing influence on the global tech landscape with Delhi-NCR registering 183 VC deals worth USD 1.9 billion (42 in AI), and Mumbai closing 167 deals worth USD 4.9 billion (26 in AI). Meanwhile, Ahmedabad and Jaipur have emerged as high-potential, cost-effective tech markets. Ahmedabad is witnessing growth in software and fintech sectors, further boosted by the Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT City), while Jaipur is drawing IT services and startups due to its strong educational base and competitive cost structures.
