Nayagarh Firecracker Blast: One Dies At AIIMS, 5 Others Fighting For Life

Bhubaneswar: A young man, who had sustained severe burns due to firecracker explosion in Nuagaon area under Dasapalla police station in Nayagarh district, succumbed to his injuries on Saturday while undergoing treatment at AIIMS Bhubaneswar. The deceased has been identified as Bapi Nahak, a resident of Meenagadia village. He was seriously injured while making firecrackers at his home for the upcoming Lankapodi festival on April 7. Six persons, including two women and a minor boy, were critically injured in the blast. All the injured were initially rushed to Nayagarh District Headquarters Hospital. Later, the critically injured were shifted to AIIMS, Bhubaneswar. Currently, two patients are undergoing treatment at AIIMS Bhubaneswar and three at SCB Medical College and Hospital, Cuttack. Nuagaon police have begun an investigation into the incident.
