New Delhi, April 4 (UNI) Delhi's Dwarka Court has convicted Kavita Mathur, a former sub-inspector with Delhi Police, for forging the signatures of senior police officials on charge sheets and for sending an intimidating SMS to a senior officer. Judicial Magistrate First Class Saurabh Goyal convicted Mathur under Sections 417, 465, 466, 468, 471 of the Indian Penal Code and Section 506 Part-I of the IPC. The case pertains to offences committed during 2015 when Mathur was posted at PS Palam Village. According to the judgment, Mathur, while working as the Investigating Officer, put forged signatures of the then ACP M. Harsh Vardhan on final reports or charge sheets in multiple cases, including FIR No. 244/14, 46/15, 204/13, 224/14, 276/14, and 594/14 of PS Palam Village. She also allegedly forged the signatures of the then SHO Nivati M. Kashyap on final reports in FIR No. 224/14 and 276/14, and subsequently filed those documents before the concerned court. Additionally, on July 23, 2015, Mathur sent an SMS from her mobile phone to the official mobile number of ACP Harsh Vardhan stating, "sir, maine bahut koshish ki ki main sab baton ka samna karun lakin ye mare liye bahut mushkil raha..main kisi ko face nahi kar pa rahi hu...maine aapke sign karke koi mukadma cancel nahi karwaya...sab log mujhe ajeeb tareeke is dekh rahe hain..main court face nahi kar pa rahi...mera sara career aapki FIR ne khatam kar diya...main suicide kar rahi hu..." The court held that this message amounted to criminal intimidation with intent to cause alarm and to influence the ACP to refrain from pursuing the case. The prosecution examined multiple witnesses, including the then SHO Nivati Mittal Kashyap, ACP M. Harsh Vardhan, Inspector Meena Yadav, and a CFSL scientific expert. The CFSL report confirmed that the signatures on the disputed documents were forged. The court noted that the accused, while confronted by Inspector Meena Yadav about the forged signatures, tore the last page of a charge sheet bearing the signatures of the IO, SHO, and ACP, and stated "Jo ho sakta hai wo kar lo aur jo karna hain kar lena." The accused pleaded not guilty and claimed false implication. She opted not to lead defence evidence. The court found that the prosecution had proved its case beyond reasonable doubt and convicted Mathur on all charges. The matter has been listed for a separate hearing on the order of sentence.
