Nashik: In a tragic late-night accident, nine members of a family, including seven students, were killed after their car plunged into a water-filled well in Shivaji Nagar area of Dindori on Friday night. Visuals of the crash site have surfaced on the internet showing the crashed car pulled out of the well. A huge crowd can be seen gathered at the site with many engaged in rescue operations. Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation into the incident. Victims Were Returning After Attending A Felicitation Ceremony According to preliminary information, the victims were returning to their native village, Indore, in Dindori taluka after attending an annual function and felicitation ceremony organised by a private coaching class in the town. The incident took place around 10 pm when the car (MH15-JS-1053) reportedly went out of the driver's control and fell directly into an open well filled with water, as reported by ESakal. The deceased are believed to include members of the Dargode family, along with students who had attended the event. Initial reports indicate that seven of the victims were students, while two were parents accompanying them. Upon receiving information, local residents, along with teams from the police, fire brigade and disaster management unit, rushed to the spot. Rescue operations were hampered due to darkness and the high water level in the well. After several hours of effort, the car was finally pulled out around midnight with the help of three hydraulic cranes. The incident led to chaos at the site, with large crowds gathering and briefly hindering rescue operations. According to the report, some of the deceased have been identified as Sunil Dattu Dargode, Rakhi Sunil Dargode, Usha Anil Dargode, Shraddha Anil Dargode and Shravani Anil Dargode, while efforts were underway late into the night to confirm the identities of the remaining victims. Authorities from Dindori Police have begun a detailed probe to ascertain the exact cause of the accident and examine possible negligence, including the presence of an unprotected open well.
