Woman crushed under truck carrying illegally-mined sand; angry villagers block road

Gondia (Maharashtra), Apr 3 (PTI) Villagers staged a road blockade and demanded action against vehicles carrying illegally excavated sand after a woman was run over by a truck and lost her life in Gondia district, police said. Rameshwari Dhanlal Nagpure (40), resident of Katangikala, was riding pillion with her daughter to attend a funeral at Arambha village in neighbouring Madhya Pradesh when a recklessly driven tipper truck carrying sand hit their scooter on Friday morning, said an official.

Passenger vehicle dispatches dip marginally in July on muted demand

New Delhi, Aug 14 (PTI) Passenger vehicle dispatches from companies to dealers in the domestic market declined marginally year-on-year in July, hit by muted demand, industry body SIAM said on Thursday. Passenger vehicle wholesales stood at 3,41,510 units in July 2024.
