Hoshiarpur (Punjab), Apr 3 (PTI) The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) on Friday held a protest outside the DSP office in Garhshankar here against the recent alleged desecration of a statue of B R Ambedkar in Noorpur Jattan village. BSP's Punjab unit president Avtar Singh Karimpuri said the party would intensify its agitation across Punjab if the accused were not arrested. He alleged that no arrests have been made despite a 72-hour ultimatum given to the police and accused the state administration of failing in its duty. Karimpuri also claimed that several such incidents have occurred in the state in recent years and criticised the government's response. He said BSP workers from different Assembly segments in the Doaba region would hold protests from April 4 to April 16, followed by a larger demonstration on April 18.
