Jorhat, April 3: The election contest in Sarupathar intensified on Friday as Assam Pradesh Congress Committee Chief Gaurav gogoi Launched a sharp attack on Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma over his alleged remarks involving Kunki Choudhury and her family. Addressing the press after an election rally in Sarupathar, Gogoi said, "The Chief Minister's attack on a woman like her reflects his own character and shows how low it is." "Again and again, we have seen him disrespecting his position and Assamese society by making such remarks. The sooner we bid him farewell, the sooner we can restore the dignity of the post," he added. Gogoi further stated that repeated controversial remarks by the Chief Minister have not only demeaned the office but also insulted the people of Assam. He also added that the election presents an opportunity to bring political change in Assam by removing what he termed as "corrupt and syndicate-driven elements" from power.
