Jagan should apologise to Amaravati farmers: Kanna

Guntur: Sattenapalli MLA Kanna Lakshminarayana has demanded that YS Jagan Mohan Reddy apologise to the farmers of Amaravati. Addressing the media here on Thursday, he alleged that the YSRCP opposed the bill in Parliament aimed at granting legal status to Amaravati as the state capital. He accused Jagan Mohan Reddy of attempting to mislead the public through his statements and said such remarks reflect a lack of respect for people's sentiments. Reiterating his demand, Kanna Lakshminarayana said Jagan owed an apology to the farmers who had contributed land for the development of the capital. He recalled that the decision to establish Amaravati as the capital was taken between 2014 and 2019 with the consensus of all major political parties, and that several infrastructure projects were initiated during that period. He further stated that during his Padayatra, Jagan had sought "one chance" from the people and assured them that Amaravati would remain the capital. However, after coming to power, he went back on his promise and introduced the concept of three capitals, he alleged.
