Passage of Jan Vishwas Amendment Bill big boost to ease of living: PM

New Delhi, Apr 2 (PTI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday described Parliament's passage of the Jan Vishwas (Amendment of Provisions) Bill, 2026, as a big boost to ease of living and ease of doing business in the country. He said it is a matter of "immense delight" that Parliament has passed the Bill. "This Bill strengthens a trust-based framework that empowers our citizens. It marks the end of rules and regulations that are outdated," the prime minister posted on X. He added that the Bill also ensures speedy disposal of cases and reduces the litigation burden with decriminalisation. "What is also noteworthy is the consultative approach with which this Bill was drafted," he said, complimenting all those who shared their insights for drafting the Bill and supported it in the House. Parliament on Thursday passed the Bill to amend 784 provisions in 79 central laws, aimed at decriminalising and rationalising minor offences to further improve the business environment and check harassment of people.
