Punjab And Haryana HC Evacuated After Bomb Threat Email; No Explosives Found During Search

Chandigarh, April 2: Panic gripped the Punjab and Haryana High Court premises, which was subsequently evacuated after a bomb threat email was received here on Thursday. Threat email triggers evacuation According to information, the email was sent to the Chandigarh Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) office stating that a bomb had been planted inside the High Court. On Wednesday only, a low-intensity blast had taken place outside the BJP office in Sector 37 here in the city. Search operations carried out While a police team rushed to the spot, the High Court premises was evacuated and searches of the entire area were conducted by the bomb detection squad. However, no suspected object was found till the filing of this report. It may be recalled that while the High Court Registrar had received a similar bomb threat in May last year, the Chandigarh district court also received a similar threat in February this year. Likewise, multiple schools and other institutes, including secretariats and banks, had also received similar threats, but all of those were found to be hoaxes.
