The Railway Protection Force (RPF) nabbed 14 Bangladeshi infiltrators from the Delhi-bound Northeast Express train at Jalpaiguri Road station, West Bengal, on Wednesday night (1st April). The Bangladeshi infiltrators included four women and four children, all residents of Fakirbari in Bagerhat district, Bangladesh. Fake Aadhaar Cards, PAN Cards, Bangladeshi currency and mobile phones were recovered from their possession. RPF Inspector Biplab Dutta said that the RPF had received a tip-off based on which a search operation was conducted in the general compartment of the train. "...based on source information, our RPF staff identified several suspected individuals while inspecting trains... Upon verifying their Aadhaar cards, the documents appeared to be fake..." Dutta said. "Acting on this, we took action regarding 5 men, 5 women, and 4 children. They are all residents of Bangladesh... We recovered fake Aadhaar cards and Malaysian currency... They stated they were travelling to Kashmir for work..." he added. Crackdown on illegal immigration Earlier on 13th March, the Foreigner Cell of the Outer District of Delhi Police carried out a major crackdown against illegal Bangladeshi nationals. The Police conducted a special drive and caught 10 Bangladeshi immigrants who were allegedly using fake medical visa arrangements. The FRRO initiated the deportation proceedings of the detained Bangladeshi infiltrators. A massive drive has been launched by the Foreigner Cell of the Outer District to combat illegal immigration in areas within its jurisdiction. A dedicated team of the Foreigner Cell was constituted for the operation, which has been conducting continuous verification drives, gathering crucial intelligence and identifying individuals residing in the area without valid Indian documents. During a special verification drive, the Foreigner Cell team received information about some foreign nationals suspected of being Bangladeshi staying in the area beyond their visa period. The team also learned that these foreign nationals had been trying to obtain medical visas for Bulgaria despite not having any valid documents to stay in India.
