Bengaluru, April 2 (SocialNews.XYZ) A woman techie and her 11-month-old son were found dead under suspicious circumstances at their residence in Bengaluru, the police said on Thursday. The deceased have been identified as Pratibha Wali, a software professional, and her infant son. The police recovered a suicide note stating that she took the extreme step after the child accidentally drowned in a bucket filled with water. The complaint was filed by her husband, Mahantesh Wali (32), an engineer employed with a private firm in Peenya. He stated that the family had been living in a rented house in Byraveshwarnagar, off Nagarbhavi Main Road, coming under the jurisdiction of Chandralayout Police Station, for the past four years. According to the complaint, Mahantesh left for work at around 9 a.m. on April 1, while Pratibha was working from home. When he returned at about 6.30 p.m., he found the door locked from the inside. Despite repeated knocking, there was no response, and calls to his wife's mobile phone went unanswered. He then used a spare key kept near a window to enter the house. Inside, he found his wife hanging from a ceiling hook with a saree. He also noticed injuries on her left wrist, which appeared to have been cut, along with blood stains. Their infant son was found lying unresponsive on a bed and was later declared dead. The police said a handwritten note in English was recovered from the spot. In the note, Pratibha reportedly stated that the child had fallen into water and died, and that she was unable to save him, seeking forgiveness. "I had hung clothes out to dry and had gone to the terrace to bring them back. During that time, the child, while playing, went into the wash area. The child drowned in a bucket and died. I could not save my baby. I am responsible for my child's death. Hence, I am ending my life," she wrote in the note. An empty strip of Dolo 650 tablets was also found near the body, raising suspicion that she may have consumed them before her death. The police said she may have first attempted suicide by consuming tablets and cutting her wrists. As there was no significant bleeding, she is suspected to have later died by hanging. Based on the complaint, a case has been registered under the relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita. The complainant has expressed suspicion regarding the deaths, and police have initiated an investigation to ascertain the exact cause and sequence of events.
