HYDERABAD: Two gram panchayats from Telangana have secured the Deen Dayal Upadhyay Panchayat Satat Vikas Puraskars, announced by the Ministry of Panchayati Raj, for their outstanding performance in rural development and sustainable governance. Motukupalli gram panchayat, in Kotepalli mandal of Vikarabad district, has won the award in the "Good Governance" category. The recognition comes for its excellence in transparent administration, people's participation and effective implementation of development programmes at the grassroots level. Similarly, Faslawadi gram panchayat in Sangareddy mandal of Sangareddy district has been selected for the national award in the "Women-Friendly Panchayat" category. The panchayat was recognised for its efforts in promoting women's empowerment, safety and welfare initiatives. Panchayati Raj & Rural Development Minister Danasari Anasuya alias Seethakka expressed delight over the two villages bagging the awards. She said that it is a matter of pride for the state that its gram panchayats have received recognition at the national level.
