NEW DELHI: The national capital witnessed a marginal decline in crime against women, children and the elderly in 2025 compared to 2024 and 2023. A total of 12,458 cases of crimes against women, 7,413 against children, and 1,227 against elderly persons were registered during the year, the Rajya Sabha was informed on Wednesday. In a written reply, Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai said that 13,195 cases of crimes against women, 7,636 against children, and 1,267 against the elderly were registered in 2024. The number of such cases in 2023 was 13,208, 7,769, and 1,361, respectively. To a question on the number of posts currently vacant in the Delhi Police against their total sanctioned strength, the reply mentioned that the Delhi Police currently has 14,140 vacant posts, of which 13,958 are at the constable to inspector level. The sanctioned strength of constable to inspector level is 96,817, ACP level 346, and Additional DCP and above level is 168. Meanwhile, there are 152 posts vacant at the ACP level and 30 at the additional DCP and above level.
