New Delhi: With an eye on the Kerala assembly elections and amid pushback from the Opposition, the Narendra Modi government on Wednesday deferred the discussion and passage of the contentious Foreign Contribution (Amendment) Regulation Bill in the Lok Sabha. As soon as the House assembled, Opposition MPs raised slogans against the bill and demanded its withdrawal. Although the bill was listed for discussion and passage, parliamentary affairs minister Kiren Rijiju informed the House during Question Hour that it won't be taken up.
