Hyderabad: Members of the Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC) Telangana state committee observed a black day on Wednesday, protesting against the four labour codes, which they described as anti-worker. The protest followed a call given by G. Sanjeeva Reddy, chairman of the coordination committee of Central Trade Unions and Independent Sector Federations. Workers from various sectors participated in a rally that began at the INTUC office in Narayanguda and concluded at the Telangana State Labour Commissioner's office, raising slogans against the labour codes and demanding their repeal. INTUC leaders said the codes, introduced in the name of ease of doing business, would weaken workers' rights, dilute collective bargaining and affect social security. They expressed concern that the changes could impact workers in the unorganised and informal sectors. The union demanded repeal of the four labour codes, restoration of existing labour protections, convening of a tripartite meeting with central trade unions and adherence to international labour standards. The rally was led by INTUC state general secretary R.D. Chandrasekhar, with participation from leaders including Bhaskar Reddy, Naganna Goud, Kasireddy Jagan Mohan Reddy, Vijay Kumar Yadav and Adil Sharif.
