Jammu: Jammu and Kashmir has secured the top position among Union Territories, excluding Delhi, on the National Crime Records Bureau's CCTNS Pragati Dashboard as of March 1, 2026, marking a major achievement in technology-driven policing in the Union Territory. According to officials, Jammu and Kashmir ranked first among UTs, while Delhi secured the top position in the overall national ranking of States and Union Territories. The achievement has been attributed to the sustained efforts of the CCTNS team of the Crime Branch, J&K Police. The monthly performance assessment is carried out by the National Crime Records Bureau under the Ministry of Home Affairs and evaluates States and Union Territories on parameters such as data quality, timeliness, accuracy and integration across national policing platforms linked with the Interoperable Criminal Justice System (ICJS). Officials said Jammu and Kashmir performed strongly across key indicators, including connectivity of police stations, full deployment of core CCTNS applications, timely syncing of data with the National Data Centre and effective integration with ICJS components. The Union Territory has also ensured round-the-clock availability of citizen services through the JK Citizen Portal. Officials said the improved ranking is expected to benefit the public through faster registration and tracking of cases, better accuracy of police records, easier access to services such as verifications and grievance redressal, and quicker coordination across the criminal justice system. They said the use of advanced technology and data-driven processes is helping strengthen transparency, accountability and public trust in policing across Jammu and Kashmir.
