Jaipur: Rajasthan Staff Selection Board (RSSB) Monday said that from April, those who apply for recruitment exams but fail to turn up on exam day will have to pay a fine. In Nov last year, the board wrote to the state govt to either start an application fee or impose fines, so that attendance in recruitment exams increases. RSSB said if a person applies for any two exams in a financial year (from April 1 to March 30) and does not appear in the exams, they will have to pay a penalty of Rs 750 while filling the next application form. "If a candidate does not appear in four exams, they will have to pay a penalty of Rs 1,500. This provision will be applicable to all exams to be held from April," said RSSB chairman Maj Gen (retired) Alok Raj. Officials said this decision was taken at a board meeting held Monday to check the problem of absentees at exams. In Rajasthan, due to one-time registration, candidates can fill recruitment forms for different departments free of charge. "If candidates fill forms for only those exams in which they appear, exams can be conducted at fewer centres, which will reduce expenses and also the chances of paper leak and cheating," Raj said. He added that in another step to prevent fraud, candidates will now only be able to make minor corrections in their educational qualifications in the application form, such as spelling mistakes and change of one or two digits. "Candidates will not be able to replace the entire details, like an entire word or the entire enrolment number or percentage of marks. If such details are changed, then candidates will be disqualified and debarred," Raj said. He further said that corrections can be done only on the opportunity given immediately after filling the form.
