Hyderabad: Chief minister A Revanth Reddy has instructed officials to crack down on the sand mafia by conducting inspections and appointing special officers to monitor illegal sand transportation. During a review meeting on Monday, the CM emphasized the need to ensure affordable sand prices for common people and to provide free supply to Indiramma houses. He also announced the development of a special portal to resolve consumer issues and grievances promptly. Steps will be taken to ensure sand is sold at a fixed price, and a tracking system for sand-transporting vehicles will be developed to curb illegal transportation. The CM directed officials to pay pending bills immediately and curb black marketing. District collectors and SPs were tasked with checking sand smuggling and illegal transportation. In Hyderabad, HYDRAA has been assigned to tackle illegal sand transportation. The CM highlighted the need for strict vigilance and enforcement by installing 360-degree cameras and solar lights at every sand reach, setting up entry and exit points, and strong fencing at sand stockyards. Revanth Reddy stated that registered lorries will be empaneled for transportation, ensuring sand reaches consumers within 48 hours of booking. A system will be developed to deliver sand from the nearest sand reach area-wise. The CM suggested changes to the online booking system, restricting booking hours to office timings. He also mentioned that he will personally conduct surprise inspections if necessary.
