Mumbai, April 1: Google CEO Sundar Pichai has confirmed the rollout of a long-requested feature that allows users to change their primary @gmail.com email address without creating a new account. In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter) on March 31, Pichai highlighted the update as a step toward providing users with more flexibility over their digital identities. The move marks a significant departure from Google's two-decade-long policy, where Gmail addresses were considered permanent once created. The primary benefit of the update is the preservation of all account data. Users who choose to switch to a new Gmail address will not lose their emails, Google Photos, or Google Drive files.
