Chandigarh, March 30 (UNI) Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has issued a stern directive to the state health department to implement a real-time centralised drug inventory system across all government hospitals. During a comprehensive review meeting of health services at the Secretariat on Monday, the Chief Minister emphasised that digital transparency regarding medicine availability is non-negotiable. Under the new system, physicians will be kept informed about the specific stocks available within the facility to eliminate the practice of prescribing medicines from private pharmacies. The Chief Minister warned that any doctor found prescribing outside medication must now explicitly document the unavailability of the drug in the hospital on the patient's OPD slip, with the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) held directly accountable for such instances. Accompanied by Additional Chief Secretary of Health and Family Welfare, Dr. Sumita Mishra, and Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister, Arun Gupta, the Chief Minister reviewed various critical parameters, including OPD management, staff deployment, and the procurement of medical equipment. He directed that procurement systems be made more transparent and time-bound, ensuring a year-long panel of suppliers is maintained to prevent stockouts.
