Thiruvananthapuram, Mar 30 (PTI) As many as 10,922 voters aged 85 and above and persons with disabilities (PwD) exercised their franchise through home voting as part of the Assembly elections in Kerala on Monday, officials said. According to data shared by the Election Commission, 7,561 senior citizen absentee voters (AVSC) aged 85 or above cast their votes from home as the process began on Monday. Similarly, 3,361 absentee voters with disabilities (AVPD) exercised their franchise, too. There are a total of 1,45,598 voters in the AVSC (85+) category, while 62,159 voters fall under the AVPD category in the state. On Monday, as many as 2,228 voters from the AVSC (85+) and AVPD categories cast their votes from home in Kottayam district, followed by 1,749 in Thiruvananthapuram, 1,550 in Ernakulam and 1,141 in Kannur. No home votes were cast in Palakkad district, officials said. The Election Commission has deployed 2,468 teams to visit absentee voters and assist them in casting their votes from home.
