Gandhinagar: The office of the chief electoral officer (CEO), Gujarat, which is conducting a special intensive revision (SIR) of the electoral roll in the state, said on Wednesday that preparation of the draft voter list is nearing completion. It will be published on Friday, Dec 19.After the draft voter list is published, objections and claims related to the voter list can be submitted between Dec 19 and Jan 18, 2026, the office of the CEO said on Wednesday. Indian citizens whose names are not included in the draft electoral roll for any reason can fill Form No. 6 with supporting documents to have their names added to the voter list, the statement said.The statement also said that having one's name on the voter list in two places is considered an offence under the provisions of the Representation of People's Act. Names of 381,534 voters were found to be repeated during the SIR exercise. During the enumeration phase, a total of 5.08 crore forms were distributed, of which 4.34 crore filled forms were returned to the ECI. "By the final stage of the verification process, it was noted that 18,07,277 deceased voters were included on the voter list, 9,69,813 voters were found absent at their addresses, 40,26,010 voters had permanently relocated, and 381,534 voters were found to be repeated," the statement said.
