Manipur Violence Update - 1 Injured in 20-Minute Gunbattle at Bishnupur Border - Times Bull

Manipur Violence: A tense situation was witnessed on Tuesday night in the Torbung area bordering the Bishnupur and Churachandpur districts of Manipur. Tensions flared up once again in Manipur. An incident of sudden firing was reported around 8:30 PM on Tuesday in the Torbung area, which borders the Bishnupur and Churachandpur districts of the state. This occurred when heavy cross-firing erupted between security forces and armed miscreants. One person is reported to have been injured in the firing. However, the injured person has not yet been identified. Officials said the incident took place around 8:30 PM. According to officials, cross-firing took place between security forces and unknown armed miscreants. Panic spread in the area after the incident. According to reports, at least one civilian was injured in the incident that occurred late on December 16th. This incident comes a day after 389 displaced persons returned to their homes, having been displaced from Phougakchao Ikhai, Torbung, and some other areas due to the ongoing ethnic conflict. 20-Minute Gunfight Officials said that around 8:30 PM on Tuesday, several armed miscreants from the Churachandpur side allegedly attacked Torbung village. Security forces retaliated immediately. According to reports, the armed miscreants also used bombs during the clash. The encounter reportedly lasted for about 20 minutes, causing panic among the villagers. The injured person has been admitted to a nearby health centre for treatment. The administration has stated that the situation is being monitored and an investigation is underway. According to residents, 389 internally displaced persons from 67 families were recently resettled in the Phougakchao Ikhai and Torbung areas at the government's instructions. It is being reported that the situation deteriorated due to opposition or dissatisfaction with the resettlement process.
