Media sensitization workshop on PPI held in Srinagar

Srinagar, Dec 16: In preparation for the upcoming Pulse Polio National Immunization Day (NID) 2025, a Media Sensitization Workshop was held on Tuesday at Conference Hall of the Directorate of Family Welfare, MCH & Immunization, Barzulla. The workshop aimed to strengthen collaboration with the media and enhance public awareness ahead of NID scheduled on 21 December 2025. A detailed presentation was delivered by Dr. Mohammad Ramzan Mir, Assistant Director, Family Welfare, MCH & Immunization, Kashmir Division, who briefed participants on the global polio situation, India's polio-free status, NID preparedness, and campaign readiness in Kashmir Division. Dr. Ramzan emphasized the critical role of the media in sustaining polio-free gains and urged media fraternity members to actively disseminate positive, accurate, and motivating messages to ensure maximum participation of parents and caregivers in the upcoming immunization drive. Dr. Ashiq Rashid Mir, State Surveillance Medical Officer (SMO), WHO-NPSP, Kashmir Division, highlighted the importance of community trust, timely information, and coordinated efforts in reaching every child, especially those in hard-to-reach and vulnerable populations. Officials and staff from the Directorate of Family Welfare, MCH & Immunization, along with WHO-NPSP, UNDP, Rotary club of Kashmir and Team Red NGO other partners, attended the meeting and reaffirmed their commitment to a successful Pulse Polio campaign. The workshop concluded with a collective appeal to the public to bring all children under five years of age to the nearest polio booth on 21 December 2025, reinforcing the message: "Do Boond Zindagi Ki - Har Bachcha, Har Baar."

Flood situation in Arunachal improves; drinking water crisis in Itanagar
