Kolkata: Draft electoral rolls of three states and two Union Territories will be published on Tuesday as part of the ongoing special intensive revision of voters' list. The Election Commission of India (ECI) said draft rolls of West Bengal, Rajasthan, Goa, Puducherry and Lakshadweep will be published on Tuesday. The chief electoral officers (CEOs) and district election officers (DEOs) will share hard copies of the draft rolls with all recognised political parties. The rolls will be uploaded on CEO and DEO websites as well. Lists of absent, shifted, dead and duplicate electors will also be uploaded on CEO and DEO websites. In Bengal, 3,139,815 voters will approach registration officers for hearing as the West Bengal draft electoral roll is set to be published on Tuesday while about 2,416,852 people have been identified as dead voters out of the total 5,820,898 marked for deletion in the rolls. ECI will publish the draft list on December 16 and it will be available during the day, West Bengal CEO Manoj Kumar Agarwal said. Meanwhile, out of the 1.67 crore voters, kept under varying degrees of scrutiny, 1.37 crore are being closely monitored. "After ruling out errors, like two errors in single name (two errors of name and age found against one person) which can be corrected, around 1.37 crore data will be checked and scrutinised," a senior special rolls observer told ET. "Typing errors are visible as data has been taken from 2002 SIR, which was in paper format, unlike other states." The draft rolls can be seen on Tuesday in local booths, panchayat offices, municipal offices, sub-divisional offices, BDO's office, DEO's office, DEO and CEO websites, and ECInet app, said additional CEO Arindam Niyogi. After publication of the draft electoral rolls, 'claims and objection' period will continue till January 17. The notice phase (hearing & verification) will continue till February 7. The final electoral rolls will be published in February 2026. Agarwal said hearings will be conducted in the presence of micro-observers. However, web cameras will not be used as decided by the CEO.
