Ahmedabad: A lawyer practising in the Gujarat high court has issued a legal notice to filmmaker Aditya Dhar and Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt, accusing them of defaming the Baloch community in the recently released Hindi film 'Dhurandhar'. He alleged that the filmmakers used vulgar, offensive and derogatory language to describe the community.Advocate Nabil Baloch took exception to a dialogue spoken by Dutt's character, SP Chaudhary Aslam, a Pakistani police officer, which states: "You can trust crocodiles, but not the Baloch." He also cited a couple of other lines from the film, alleging that they portray the Baloch community in a demeaning and contemptuous manner.The notice states: "The deliberate use of vulgar and abusive language against a community constitutes hate-oriented speech, promotes social disharmony, and violates the fundamental principles of equality, dignity and respect."The legal notice demands a public apology from the filmmakers. It also calls upon them to "remove, delete or censor all defamatory, vulgar and derogatory references to the Baloch community from the film 'Dhurandhar', including trailers, promotional material and online content."The lawyer warned of civil and criminal proceedings if the demands are not met within 15 days.
