CBI Arrests Social Security Officer ESIC Jammu In A Bribery Case

Jammu, Nov 17: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested Social Security Officer, O/o Regional Director, Employees State Insurance Corporation (ESIC), Jammu while demanding and accepting bribe of Rs.9,000 from the complainant. CBI registered the instant case on 17.11.2025 based on a complaint that wife of complainant was running a private firm which became defunct and has not been doing any business since inception. However, ESIC, Regional Office, Jammu has been harassing by issuing Notices u/s 45 for non-deposit of contribution to ESIC, it reads. When the complainant met the Social Security Officer, he demanded an illegal gratification of Rs.10,000 from the complainant to close the proceedings, it reads. After negotiation, the accused agreed to accept Rs.9,000. CBI laid a trap on 17.11.2025, and apprehended the accused red-handed while demanding and accepting bribe of Rs.9,000 from the complainant. The search at the residential premises of the accused is underway. Investigation is continuing. (KNC)
