Chittoor, Oct 31 (UNI) The Chittoor district VI th additional sessions court has sentenced five persons to death for murdering the woman Mayor and her husband. Sixth Additional district Session court Judge N Srinivasa Rao in a sensational judgment awarded five accused the capital punishment in the murder of the then Chittoor city Mayor Kathari Anuradha and her husband Kathari Mohan. The five accused intruded into the municipal corporation office and shot dead the then city Mayor Anuradha and hacked to death her husband Mohan on November 17, 2015. The five persons who were sentenced to death are: Sriram Chandrasekhar alias Chintu (A1), Govinda Swamy Srinivasaiah alias Venkatesh (A2), Jayaprakash Reddy alias Jayareddy (A3), Manjuinath alias Manju (A4) and Muniratnam Venkatesh (A5). The prosecution listed 23 persons as accused in the case. However the court acquitted others while one accused S Srinivasachari (A12) died during the trial. Police said that the deceased Kathari Mohan was the Telugu Desam party Chittoor district vice-president and another deceased Anuradha was the mayor. Differences erupted between the couple and A1 Sriram Chandrasekhar alias Chintoo, who was also the nephew of deceased Mohan. The accused shot dead the then Mayor Anuradha and later hacked to death her husband Mohan in the municipal corporation office in their chamber in full public glare.
