Tragic IED Explosion in West Singhbhum: 10-Year-Old Girl Killed While Collecting Firewood | Ranchi News - The Times of India

Jamshedpur: A 10-year-old girl was killed in an improvised explosive device (IED) explosion in the Digha-Tilaposi stretch of the Saranda forest in West Singhbhum on Tuesday.West Singhbhum SP Amit Renu said, "Siria Herenj of Digha village had gone to the forest to collect leaves and firewood. She inadvertently stepped on a pressure-triggered IED and suffered grave injuries. Her legs were severely damaged. Jaraikela police and other security forces went to the spot, but the girl could not be saved."The IED was planted by the Maoists to target security forces. Eight villagers had died and over a dozen sustained injuries in IED blasts in Saranda between 2023 and Oct 2025. Moreover, three elephants were killed at Digha village in IED blasts in 2025, sources said.
