Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Electoral Officer Manoj Agarwal said on Tuesday that the Election Commission will create a voters' list which will be 100% fair and not a single name of a genuine voter will be left out. In a major change in the enumeration form, members of a family can sign in the absence of the elector's presence at home, when the BLO visits. This feature was not available in the Bihar enumeration form. The enumeration form had a QR code, which will be available in Bengal as well. The voters' list was frozen last night with the starting of SIR. Till December 9, while the SIR is carried out, no new names will be updated on the website. "SIR has been started today in Bengal. BLO training will be completed by November 3. There are 7.66 crore voters in Bengal in total, the CEO said. The BLO will visit every house and distribute enumeration forms from November 4 and work will be done both during the day and night. Senior EC officials of 12 states where SIR is being conducted held a meeting on Tuesday. The draft roll will be published on December 9, a senior official said. "We have done table-top exercise with the base in 2002 SIR, with booth details. BLOs have completed the table-top exercise. We have a clear picture of how many voters were there in 2002," Agarwal said.
