Andhra Pradesh Disaster Management Authority (APSDMA) had directed all heavy vehicles plying on the national highways in the Cyclone Montha-affected districts to halt from 8.30 pm on Tuesday till 6 am on Wednesday. The district collectors and police have been directed to halt the vehicular traffic on the highways to ensure safety of the commuters. The impact of the cyclone is severe in the districts of Krishan, Eluru, East Godavari, West Godavari, Dr B R Ambedkar Konaseema, ASR district, Chittor and Rampachodavaram, according to officials. According to an alert issued by IMD at 5.30 pm on Tuesday (Oct 28), the cyclone is expected to cross Andhra Pradesh Coast between Machilipatnam and Kalinga Patnam around Kakinada during next three to four hours (between 8.30 pm and 9.30 pm) as a severe cyclonic storm with a maximum sustained wind speed of 90-100 kmph gusting to 110 kmph.
