Kota: The Jhalawar police's special investigation team (SIT) probing the multi-core cyber fraud busted last week under 'Operation Shutter Down', arrested six more accused from Delhi, Punjab, Jaipur, Bharatpur and Jodhpur, bringing the total number of arrested individuals to 36 on Monday. Additionally, two govt employees from Dausa and Phalodi were detained. The gang's operations were primarily centered around exploiting vulnerabilities in govt welfare schemes such as the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi, Jan Aadhaar and various pension schemes. The accused, including govt employees and tech-savvy individuals, used their insider access to manipulate official systems and siphon off funds meant for genuine beneficiaries, police said. One of the key players, Mohammad Laeeq, an operator at the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi's state nodal office in Jaipur, allegedly exploited his access to create unauthorised IDs for private individuals. These IDs were used to activate fraudulent accounts during late-night hours, ensuring that the illicit activities went undetected during regular office hours. Laeeq also manipulated mobile numbers linked to district nodal IDs, allowing OTPs to be rerouted to agents involved in the fraud, thereby facilitating unauthorised access across multiple districts, police said. Subhash, another accused arrested from Delhi, played a crucial role in sourcing bulk data of ineligible beneficiaries and coordinating land seeding fraud. His collaboration with the mastermind, Ramavatar Saini arrested last week, was instrumental in executing the fraud on a large scale, police said. In addition, Mohammad Shahid from Bharatpur, a former contractual employee at the Bharatpur Land Development Bank, allegedly played a pivotal role in enabling the fraudulent activation of IDs and land seeding for ineligible persons. Jhalawar SP Amit Kumar announced rewards of Rs 25,000 for information leading to the capture of four additional key absconders linked to the scheme -- Kuldeep Dholi (Jhalawar), Naresh Saini (Dausa), Vikram Saini (Dausa), and Raju Tanwar (Jhalawar).

MahaRERA has so far issued 1,163 warrants worth ₹705.62 crore involving 442 real estate projects in Maharashtra. Of this, the MahaRERA has recovered around 29% or around ₹200 crore.
