Srinagar, Oct 27: Counter Intelligence Kashmir (CIK) has dismantled an online radicalisation network, preventing two vulnerable youths from being drawn into extremist activities. The operation highlights the agency's expertise in cyber intelligence, surveillance, and community outreach. Acting on precise intelligence, CIK identified two social media accounts, 'faithful_warrior57' and 'Gurkboru.08', used to glorify violence, circulate extremist content, and influence impressionable youth. Both accounts were found sharing propaganda material, including audio clips and digital content, aimed at promoting secessionist sentiment and recruiting vulnerable individuals. The individuals behind the accounts were traced to: Hashim Mashood Lone, 17, from Khawjabagh, Maloora, operating 'Gurkboru.08' and Mohammad Hazik Ahanger, 15, from Railway Colony, Nowgam, operating 'faithful_warrior57' Digital forensics confirmed that Hashim disseminated extremist content under instructions from an online handler using encrypted communication tools and VPNs. Investigations traced the handler, 'Saqib' (real name Ahmad Salar), to Pakistan. Salar, linked to The Resistance Front (TRF), had been orchestrating online indoctrination efforts, manipulating youth through ideological messaging and false promises of glorified action. Hazik was similarly influenced by the same handler, with digital traces revealing attempts to draw both juveniles deeper into extremist networks. Through swift operational execution and advanced cyber analytics, CIK disrupted the network, successfully preventing the recruitment of the two youths and averting a potential threat to community safety. Recognizing the social dimension of radicalization, CIK conducted joint counseling sessions with families, community elders, and local religious scholars. These sessions educated the youths and their guardians about the dangers of radicalization and responsible digital engagement, demonstrating a compassionate, community-focused approach alongside operational success. CIK urged parents, educators, and religious leaders across Jammu and Kashmir to remain vigilant, guide youth responsibly, and report any suspicious online activity promoting extremist narratives. The unit reaffirmed its commitment to protecting young minds from radical influences and safeguarding regional peace and security.
