Bhubaneswar: A 23-year-old miniature artist from Odisha's Ganjam district has etched his name into the Guinness World Records by crafting the world's smallest wooden spoon -- a marvel measuring just 1.13 millimetres, small enough to pass through the eye of a needle. K. Bijay Kumar Reddy, an electrical engineer by training, surpassed the previous record of 1.64 mm held by an artist from Bihar. Known locally as the "Odisha Chalk Artist," Reddy told Deccan Chronicle that his artistic journey began with his college art club, which sparked his fascination with micro-sculptures. "Crafting such a tiny object demanded extreme concentration, steady hands, and enormous patience," he said, adding that he had to design and fabricate his own micro tools for the job. "I spent barely Rs 500 to make the tools using iron materials. What I invested most was my mind and precision," he quipped. Before this achievement, Reddy had sculpted miniature chalk replicas of cricketers and even the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. The Guinness-winning spoon took him nearly three months to perfect before he submitted his entry in January this year. Far from resting on his laurels, Reddy has already applied for five more records, which are currently under review. "My next goal is to create five world records in a single day," he said with quiet confidence. Reddy also dreams of meeting Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and Governor Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati to showcase his unique accomplishment. "I'm working on new miniature projects and will reveal them to the world once they're complete," he added.
