Lucknow: A woman in Bahraich district allegedly killed her husband with the help of her lover after he objected to their extramarital affair. The incident took place in Alinagar Kala village under Khairighat police station limits, where 35-year-old Zakir Ali was found dead with his throat slit under a tin shed outside his house on Saturday morning. The arrests took place on Sunday.According to police, Zakir's wife Haseena (32) initially tried to mislead investigators, claiming that her husband was killed over a family dispute over property. Her version, however, failed to convince police, who grew suspicious over the inconsistency in her statement. During interrogation, she broke down and confessed to murdering her husband and disposing of the body with the help of her lover Abdul Salam (24), who lives in the same village.Investigations revealed that Haseena and Abdul Salam were in a relationship for the past two years, which Zakir strongly opposed. Frequent quarrels between the couple over her affair created tension in the household. On Friday night, Haseena allegedly invited her lover to her home after ensuring her husband and six children were asleep and hid him inside the house.ASP (Rural) Durga Prasad Tiwari said Haseena strangled Zakir with a dupatta while he was asleep. Once he stopped moving, she and her lover carried the body outside to the tin shed to make it look like an attack by outsiders. There, her lover used a knife to slit Zakir's throat to mislead investigators.The next morning, Haseena raised an alarm, gathered neighbours, and pretended to have found the body. Police arrived at the scene and launched a probe. Forensic evidence and witness accounts pointed towards Haseena's involvement.On sustained interrogation, both accused admitted to the crime. Police later recovered the murder weapon -- a knife -- and bloodstained clothes from the accused's possession. Both were produced before a local court and subsequently sent to jail on Sunday.The couple were married for 10 years and had six children -- four sons and two daughters. Police said further investigation was underway to determine whether anyone else was involved in the conspiracy.
