Ahmedabad: The Friday night DJ party at a farmhouse on Thaltej-Shilaj Road was shrouded in secrecy, with its location revealed to attendees just hours before it began. The event, privately organised and circulated through an internal group, was kept confidential to ensure the police did not catch wind of it.Officials from Ahmedabad Rural said that after learning liquor would be served at the event, Bopal police used their human intelligence network to infiltrate the closed group of African students. To gain access, undercover officers even purchased entry passes and entered the premises in plain clothes. SP (Ahmedabad rural) Om Prakash Jat said, "The party can be called a booze party at this stage. So far, we have not found any drug at the farmhouse."Police revealed that entry passes were sold under the banner "Royal Clan and First-Class Entertainment" for an event billed as the "Hot Grabbers Night Party". Tickets were priced at Rs 700 for early birds. From October 1, participants were charged Rs 1,000 for regular entries, Rs 2,500 for VIPs, and Rs 15,000 for a "Diamond Table for Five" -- the latter advertising "one Black Label and Matel" in brackets, a clue that tipped off the police to possible liquor service.As police teams swooped in, chaos ensued. CCTV footage reportedly showed a carload of foreign students attempting to flee, their doors left half-open in panic.Inside, police found liquor bottles and hookahs openly placed on tables, flashing lights, a DJ setup, and buffet spreads -- more reminiscent of a nightclub than a private gathering. The event was to continue till late on Saturday, said police.Police said, "The party was attended largely by African students from Gujarat University and a private college in central Gujarat. Of the 13 foreigners arrested, nine were from Kenya, and one each from Botswana, Comoros, Mozambique, and Madagascar. Of the 13 arrested, six were female students."According to the police, the organisers claimed they were told it was a get-together and denied all knowledge of the event being a booze party.The farmhouse owner was detained for his role in facilitating the event. "Even if he was not aware of the liquor being brought in, he should have either said no to an illegal party or informed the cops," an officer said.The liquor was allegedly supplied by two bootleggers from Motera, who transported the bottles to Shilaj.
