The city, known for its rich tradition and fervent observance of Chhath, is witnessing a flurry of activity as preparations reach their final stage. Across Jamshedpur, major ghats including Dimna, Adityapur, and RIT are being meticulously cleaned and decorated in anticipation of the festival. Local authorities, civic bodies, and volunteers have worked tirelessly to ensure that the ghats are safe, accessible, and well-equipped for the thousands of devotees expected to participate. Temporary shelters, water stations, and first-aid facilities are being set up to assist the Chhath vratis during their rigorous four-day rituals. Adding a unique community touch to this year's festivities, several social and political organizations have set up special camps for the free distribution of Chhath puja items. These include essentials such as bamboo baskets, fruits, sugarcane, and earthen lamps, ensuring that devotees can perform their rituals without any logistical stress. The initiative has received an overwhelming response, with hundreds of devotees visiting these camps to collect their puja paraphernalia ahead of the festival. The four-day festival begins with Nahay-Khay, where devotees take a ritualistic bath and clean their homes and surroundings. This is followed by Lohanda and Kharna. The Sandhya Arghya on the third day witnesses devotees standing waist-deep in river waters, offering prayers to the setting sun. The festival concludes with Usha Arghya, where morning offerings are made to the rising sun, marking the culmination of the rigorous observances. The spirit of Chhath in Jamshedpur is not just religious but also deeply social. Families, friends, and communities come together to ensure the rituals are observed with devotion and enthusiasm. Local administration has urged devotees to follow safety guidelines and maintain cleanliness at the ghats. With the city abuzz with devotion and preparation, Jamshedpur is ready to welcome one of its most cherished festivals, blending faith, community participation, and cultural heritage in a vibrant four-day celebration.
