Dimapur SC and Langsa Hill FC (Mon) today registered wins on the third day of the ongoing 9th Capt. N. Kenguruse, MVC Memorial Football Tournament at Indira Gandhi Stadium, Kohima. Dimapur SC edged past Nagaland Police FC with a narrow 2-1 victory in the first match. Rhitsho opened the account for Dimapur SC in the 13th minute. Limakumzuk of Nagaland Police equalised in the 70th minute, capitalising on a rebound to bring the game level. In the dying moments of the match, Gaichui became the hero for Dimapur SC, slotting home the decisive goal in the 80+2nd minute. Langsa Hill FC registered victory over Wokha District Ex-Servicemen League Club 6-0 in the second match of the day. Vinato opened the scoring in the 23rd minute from the penalty spot. Pangersunep doubled the lead in the 31st minute. Just before halftime, Eshong made it 3-0, calmly converting another penalty in the 43rd minute. Ghuqhe added a fourth goal in the 49th minute. Kohima, Aug 1 (PTI) Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio on Friday announced a series of initiatives aimed at promoting football and other sporting disciplines across the state. Speaking at the inaugural ceremony of the 24th Dr T Ao Inter-District Football Tournament at Indira Gandhi Stadium here, Rio said that astroturf football grounds are being developed in all districts, with six already completed in Dimapur, Phek, Mon, Mokokchung, Tuensang, and Chümoukedima. Guwahati: The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on Friday, September 26, 2025, extended the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act (AFSPA) in parts of Manipur, Nagaland, and Arunachal Pradesh for another six months. In Manipur, affected by ethnic violence since May 2023, AFSPA has been extended across the entire state except for 13 police station jurisdictions in five valley districts.
