Bhubaneswar, Oct 22 (UNI) Odisha Director General of Police (DGP) Yogesh Bahadur Khurania today reviewed the security preparedness for the Nuapada Assembly by-election scheduled to be held on November 11. Khurania emphasized the need to ensure that the by-election is conducted in a peaceful, transparent, free, and impartial manner. He directed officials to strictly adhere to the Model Code of Conduct and comply with the Election Commission of India (ECI) guidelines, particularly regarding security arrangements for VIP and VVIP visits. The DGP stressed the importance of preventive policing, including arresting suspicious persons, curbing illegal money transactions, seizing unauthorized arms and illicit liquor, and executing pending non-bailable warrants (NBWs). Additional DGP (Law and Order) Sanjay Kumar called for strengthening mobile patrolling and flying squads, and setting up check posts at all entry points of the constituency to thoroughly inspect vehicles and suspicious individuals. Director of Intelligence R.P. Koche shared intelligence inputs related to the by-election and urged DIGs and SPs to keep a close watch on the law-and-order situation in their respective districts. To prevent any Maoist-related disturbances, ADGP (Operations) Sanjeeb Panda said combing and anti-Maoist operations would be intensified in vulnerable areas, with strategies already finalized.
