Mumbai: The Goregaon police arrested four individuals for allegedly beating a 26-year-old man to death. The incident occurred on Oct 19 at the construction site of the Raj Patharon building in Subhash Nagar, Teen Dongri, Goregaon (West). The accused, who are labourers, reportedly assaulted the victim on suspicion of theft.According to police, the deceased was identified as Harshal Parma. His mother, Suvarna Ramsingh Parma, filed a complaint stating that her son left home at midnight on Oct 18 to "drink alcohol" but did not return that night.On the morning of Oct 19, around 10:45am, officers from Goregaon police station informed Suvarna that Harshal had been attacked by some men in a building in Goregaon and was admitted to a nearby trauma care hospital unconscious.At the police station, the building's watchman, Pappu Dudhnath Yadav, provided a detailed account of the incident. Yadav stated that around 3 am on October 19, a labourer named Vasant Kumar Prasad reported that four thieves had entered the building; three fled, and one was apprehended. Yadav then found labourers tying up Harshal Parma. According to Yadav, Salman was beating Harshal with a bamboo stick, while Ismulla Khan was kicking and punching him. When Yadav attempted to intervene and ask them to release Harshal, the workers told him to "mind his own business" and leave. Feeling threatened, Yadav went downstairs.At 7 am the next day, Yadav found Harshal lying unconscious in the parking area and immediately informed site supervisor Pradeep Mishra, who then contacted the police. Building site supervisor Pradeep Tribhuvandas Mishra told the police that a man suspected of theft had been beaten by the workers and was unconscious. However, doctors declared Harshal dead before he could be admitted.In her complaint, Suvarna alleged that on October 19, between 3:00 am and 7:00 am, her son Harshal was tied up and brutally beaten to death with bamboo sticks, kicked, and punched by labourers Gautam Chamar, Rajiv Gupta, Salman Khan, and Ismulla Khan, who mistook him for a thief.
